ShiftsPod  /  Manifest mode

Handed a paper manifest?
Start anyway.

A lot of haulage work arrives as a sheet of paper at someone else's yard. Manifest mode lets the driver enter the route number, add stops as they go, and still give the office live tracking and a POD for every drop.

A shift with no route loaded: the driver adds each stop on the phone. 1 min 34 s.
In short

What it is, in two sentences.

Manifest mode is the way ShiftsPod handles a job that has no route in the system. The driver types a new route number and builds the stop list on the phone from the paper manifest: postcode, ETA, company and address for each stop.

Everything else is the same as a pre-planned route: walkaround check, live tracking, delay reporting, proof of delivery and a full audit trail.

Who it is for

Hauliers who run other people's work.

Subcontract hauliers

You pull for a larger operator and get the day's drops on paper. You still want your own record of every delivery.

Owner-drivers and small fleets

Nobody is in an office uploading routes at five in the morning. The driver starts from the yard.

Mixed operations

Some days are planned in your system and some are not. Both end up in the same dashboard and the same POD archive.

How it works

From the yard gate to the last drop.

Enter the route number

If the route is not in the system, the app says so and opens an empty stop list.

Add a stop

Postcode, ETA, company and address, marked as a delivery or a collection.

Arrive, capture, depart

Photos and a signature at the stop, then the next one is added or opened.

Close the shift

The office has the route, the times and every POD.

Same record either way

Nothing is missing because the day started on paper.

You still get

  • The vehicle and trailer walkaround check before departure
  • Live tracking on the fleet map
  • Delay reports with a reason and a new ETA
  • Photo and signature proof of delivery at each stop
  • Trailer swaps recorded with where they happened

It does not

  • Plan or optimise the order of the stops
  • Give drivers navigation
  • Pull the manifest from another operator's system by itself. Routes can be pushed in through the API if they agree to send them
FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is manifest mode?

It is how a ShiftsPod driver starts a shift when no route has been uploaded. The driver enters a route number and adds each stop from the paper manifest as the day goes on.

Do I need to upload routes before drivers can start?

No. Pre-planned routes are optional. A driver can start from the yard with nothing in the system and build the stop list on the phone.

What does the driver enter for each stop?

The postcode, an ETA, the company and the address, and whether the stop is a delivery or a collection.

Does a manifest-mode shift have the same proof of delivery?

Yes. Photos, signatures, arrival and departure times and the audit trail are identical to a pre-planned route.

Can agency or subcontract drivers use it?

Yes. Any driver you add signs in to the same app with your company code, and you are billed only for drivers who are active.

Can I use both manifest mode and pre-planned routes?

Yes. Use whichever fits the job. Pre-planned routes come in by CSV or API and are described on the ePOD software page.
