ShiftsPod / HGV tracking
HGV tracking
with no hardware to fit
ShiftsPod tracks your trucks through the app your drivers already use for checks and proof of delivery. Every driver on one live map, refreshed every 10 seconds, from the moment they depart to the moment the shift closes.
14 days free · no card required · £14 per driver a month after that

What it is, in two sentences.
ShiftsPod is phone-based HGV tracking for UK hauliers. The driver's phone reports its position every 10 seconds while a shift is open, and the office sees every truck on one map with booking times, ETAs and alerts beside it.
There is no tracker to install and no engineer visit. It costs £14 per driver a month with no contract, and the same app does walkaround checks and proof of delivery.
The whole fleet, without a phone call.
Live map, 10-second updates
One marker per driver, with a coloured ring for status. Select a marker to open the stop list, dwell time and any delay the driver has reported.
Booking time against ETA
Each stop shows when it was booked and when the driver expects to arrive. A stop running late is flagged without anyone having to work it out.
Delay, late and dwell alerts
A driver reports a delay with a reason and a new ETA in one tap. The dashboard flags it straight away, and flags a truck that has sat at a stop too long.
Route trace for every shift
See where a shift actually went after the fact: the GPS trace, each stop, and where trailers were swapped.
Trailer history
Which driver had which trailer on which day, and where it went. Useful when a trailer comes back damaged and nobody remembers who had it.
Keeps working without signal
Positions queue on the phone in a dead spot and upload when coverage returns, so the trace has no holes in it.
What phone-based tracking does, and what it doesn't.
If you need engine diagnostics or stolen-vehicle recovery, you need a hardwired telematics unit. If you need to know where your drivers are and whether the day is on time, a phone does the job.
It does
- Show every driver on shift on one live map
- Record the route, stops, arrival and departure times
- Alert the office to delays and long waits at a stop
- Stop tracking when the driver closes the shift
- Work on the Android or iPhone the driver already carries
It does not
- Track a parked truck or an unaccompanied trailer
- Act as a theft-recovery tracker
- Read engine, fuel or CAN bus data
- Download or analyse tachograph data
- Give drivers navigation. They keep their own truck sat-nav
Phone-based tracking or a hardwired unit?
| ShiftsPod (driver's phone) | Hardwired telematics unit | |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | None. Drivers install the app. | Fitted to each vehicle. |
| Tracks | The driver, while a shift is open. | The vehicle, all the time. |
| Subcontractors and agency drivers | Covered. They sign in with your company code. | Only vehicles you have fitted a unit to. |
| Engine and fuel data | No. | Yes, on most units. |
| Proof of delivery and walkaround checks | Included in the same app. | Often a separate product. |
| Commitment | Monthly, cancel anytime. | Depends on the supplier. |

Questions, answered.
Do I need to fit a tracker to each truck?
No. ShiftsPod tracks through the driver's phone, so there is nothing to install on the vehicle and no engineer visit.
How often does the position update?
Every 10 seconds while a shift is open. The fleet map refreshes automatically.
Are drivers tracked when they are off shift?
No. Tracking starts when the driver departs on a shift and stops when the shift is closed.
What happens when the phone has no signal?
Positions are stored on the phone and uploaded when coverage returns, so the route trace is complete afterwards.
Can I see where a truck went yesterday?
Yes. Every shift keeps a route trace with its stops and trailer swaps. You choose how long location history is kept in the retention settings, described on the Security & Compliance page.
Does ShiftsPod replace telematics or a tachograph system?
No. It does not read engine data or tachograph data. It tells you where each driver is, whether the stops are on time, and holds the checks and proof of delivery for the shift.
How much does HGV tracking cost with ShiftsPod?
£14 per active driver a month, or £140 a year, with tracking, proof of delivery and vehicle checks all included. See pricing.
One app. The rest of the shift.
